    Remember when in summers past
Games once played, while adults made
At Home, Going Out, Landscape, Nature, Finding Out.

In this exhibition Carolyn Blake’s paintings reference childhood and daily life by association: through remembered moments, games, toys and travel.  Inevitably these events are frozen moments in time, which were experienced originally as the everyday and have since become captured and immortalised by way of family photographs, videos and conversations.

Her work records the everyday and sometimes seemingly insignificant moments. The minimal coloured palette is laid on top of a rich ground and the reduction: stripping away of visual information, leaves room for the subject to breathe. The intervention of glowing colour on the minimal palette, is used to enhance and recreate memories of the past and sometimes very personal events.
