About Jacqueline Morreau
Self-Portrait, Hand to Mouth [1989]
Charcoal and pastel on washed paper, 76 x 56 cms
Donated by the artist 1998.Self-Portrait, Hand to Mouth is one of a series of works in which Jacqueline Morreau tries to capture subjective notions of herself (rather than aiming for an objective likeness). Here she shows herself as being slightly off-balance, her life lived rather precariously - 'hand to mouth' in more than one sense.
